How often do people survive mass execution? Here's a chilling but also uplifting story of an Iraqi soldier who escaped a mass execution after playing dead.

...when the bullet missed his head, he tumbled down and pretended to be shot.

“I thought that was the end for me, there was nothing left to fear,” he told The New York Times in an interview. “But then I remembered my family. That was a difficult feeling. I kept thinking about my family. Who will care for them? What will happen to them?”
